Baseball Sunday June 18, 10 am
Batter up…in church? You bet! It’s Baseball Sunday at the Waquoit Congregational Church on Sunday, June 18, 10 a.m. And everyone’s invited to join this fun, family-oriented service.
Baseball Sunday at the Waquoit Church celebrates all things baseball during worship. In keeping with the theme, the service is divided into nine innings, including a seventh-inning stretch, and there is even a place where attendees do the “wave.” Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite team jersey and baseball caps. Following service, hot sogs and ice cream sundaes will be served.
Every year, Baseball Sunday pays special tribute to the home team, the Falmouth Commodores. Several Commodore players will be in attendance as “guests of honor” and available for autographs and pictures after service.
“Many theologians have drawn the comparison between God and baseball…faith and baseball. Some people believe that baseball is even a way to God,” said Rev. Nell Fields, minister of the Waquoit church. “Baseball Sunday is just another way we worship together. It also allows us to celebrate our home team, the Falmouth Commodores. That organization does so much for our town. The players, the coaches, the volunteers – all are wonderful people.”
The public is invited to the Waquoit service that starts at 10 a.m. Waquoit Congregational Church is located at 15 Parsons Lane, Waquoit, MA 02536. For more information: 508-548-5269.
