The meals will be cooked fresh on site at the church by Laura Higgins, chef and owner of the Buffalo Jump Restaurant. The dessert is prepared by Annie Konner Higgins. Food is Hawaiian fare: huli huli chicken thigh, rice, luau vegetables. A vegetarian option of huli huli jackfruit is also available. The meals are offered take out, to go, only. Adults, $15; children (under age 9) is $11. Dessert is $4.

People are encouraged to order ahead by calling the church office 508-549-5269

“We really wanted to do something to help the people of Maui. There’s just so much devastation. We wanted to let people in Maui know that their neighbors on Cape Cod see them, hear them, and care for them” said The Rev. Nell Fields, minister of the Waquoit Church. “When we asked our friends of the Buffalo Jump Restaurant to help, they immediately said, ‘yes.’ ”

The Waquoit Church has worked with the Buffalo Jump over the past five year hosting Safe Plates, dinner fundraisers for a variety of causes including racial justice, hurricane relief, and social justice issue.

Meals for Maui is cosponsored by community organizations including Falmouth Jewish Congregation, No Place for Hate-Falmouth, North Falmouth Congregational Church, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Falmouth, Mashpee Congregational Church, and others

All proceeds will go to Maui Food Bank and the Maui Human Society. People may donated directly to Meals for Maui c/o Waquoit Congregational Church, 15 Parsons Lane, Waquoit, MA 02536.
